Harris + Hoole

We were all in chains. Not now…

Instead of visiting a big chain coffee shop at the supermarket, try this instead…

Go to just about any medium or large chain supermarket and you’ll usually find a big chain coffee shop. You know the one.

But Tesco in Aylesbury (on Bicester Road, not the Tring road shop) is different. They feature a Harris + Hoole outlet, which we recently visited. Harris + Hoole is a much smaller operation that the biggie chains (they have 36 outlets according to their website), and they claim to be an artisan coffee shop who are passionate about coffee. We thought we’d try it out.

First surprise – when asked they told me they put 3 shots of espresso in their medium Americano. Immediately I felt I was in for a treat. I ordered one and my wife ordered a flat white. First off, no paper cups (at least not when sat at a table). Secondly, the staff were friendly and cleared cared about coffee.

I am fussy about coffee, and admittedly hard to please. However not only did we enjoy the whole experience, but we thought the Harris + Hoole coffee was outstanding. It was a full coffee with an array of balanced flavours, carefully crafted.

We might even suggest that those who shop on Tring Road could shop on Bicester Road and try the coffee for themselves.

Well done Harris + Hoole. We’ll be back for more.
